P.S. A footnote by the army set guru:

We deliberately designed the army set to allow a wide variety
of combinations of all the imaginable bonuses. That makes the
tournament more complicated (you have to learn how all those bonuses
really work), but also a lot richer (if you manage to build a variety
of units, you can do some amazing things!). In general the bigger
the variety of bonuses you put in your stack, the better it will
do in WarBOT, and the fewer peon units you'll lose in battle.
Unless an opponent has a catapult or a demon/dragon for instance,
a +2 city with a minotaur, archer, and elephant becomes virtually
invincible (+5 total bonus and -1 enemy bonus). Similarly,
a strong hero with archon/devil, demon/dragon, archer, catapult,
and elephant becomes *extremely* hard to defeat! The downside is
that the elephant, archer, and catapult will slow you down - which
is a deliberate tradeoff.

Learning to optimize the stack bonuses (and thus to avoid needlessly
squandering production in battle) may be the single most important
skill you need to do well in the tournament. Read the upcoming
