WarBOT is the Warlords Battle Odds Tool.
It is design to aid the players with determining the probability
of outcomes for battles in Warlords. The following is the main screen
when you run the WarBOT 1.0 application (WarBOT 1.6 is similar):
Information should be entered into WarBOT in the following order:
1) Version
Select the platform from the picklist.
2) Army Set
Select the Army Set from the picklist. If you want to add new army sets,
click on the "maintain" button and then choose "import". You will need
to have a tab-delimited text file with the appropriate army set stats.
You can make these yourself using the erythea.txt or roundeb1.txt files
as templates.
3) Intense Combat
Check the box if Intense Combat is used.
4) Defense Terrain
Select the Terrain of the Defense stack.
5) Unit Type, Strength, and Navy check box
Enter the Unit Type and the Unit Strength from the View Stack
command in Warlords. Use the number that is not in parentheses.
Do not add any Terrain Modifiers to the Unit Strength; the modifier
will be automatically calculated. Usually, the Default Strength
that appears when you select a Unit Type is correct and you do
not need to make any changes. If a unit is Blessed (Medals are
not allowed in the tournament), change the Default Strength to
the appropriate number. Furthermore, if a Hero is at a higher
level, this number will need to be increased also.
For example, consider the following Stack:
Hero (32 experience points and blessed once)
Demon (blessed twice at different temples)
Giant (blessed once)
Dwarf (blessed once)
Dwarf
Dwarf
You would enter the following Unit Strengths:
Hero 8 (base 5: +2 for hero level, +1 for blessing)
Demon 9 (base 7: +2 for blessing)
Giant 7 (base 6: +1 for blessing)
Dwarf 5 (base 4: +1 for blessing)
Dwarf 4 (no change required to the Default Strength
Dwarf 4 (no change required to the Default Strength)
If the Terrain is Water/Shore, and the Unit Type cannot fly, the
Navy check box will become activated. Please note that these check
boxes are NOT automatically checked. If you check the navy check
box, the result screen will show a "Navy" marking next
the unit.
Due to a bug in Warlords, some flying units may be converted to
navies during a battle. In most instances this conversion
will be automatically done for you by putting a "*Navy"
marking in the results screen. However, please double check the
results to make sure the battle is carried out correctly. You
will need to look at the actual battle screen, look for the blue
waves under the units as each of them are destroyed, and determine
which are the "real" naval units - the ones with the
blue waves under them during a battle are navies. Please ask your
moderator for details on this situation if you have additional
questions.
In addition to the Unit Types in the pick list, you can select
among the four stack editing functions:
*CLEAR: Clear the current unit and create a blank slot.
*DELETE: Delete the current unit and move the rest of the stack
up.
*INSERT: Move the rest of the stack down a slot and create a blank
slot.
*RESET: Clear the current unit and the rest of the stack.
Repeat this process until all attack and defense units have been
entered.
6 Quick..
This function will bring up the following screen:
Enter the number of an Unit Type, select the Unit Type, and enter
the Unit Strength using the rules in the above section. These
units will be added to the bottom of the respective attack and
defense stacks.
7 Cmd Items total/flight item
Select the TOTAL of the Bonuses of the Command Items carried by ALL
heroes in the stack. This bonus will be used to calculate the
Total Hero Bonus. Also check the Flight Item check box if any
of your heroes is carrying a flight item. This is important for
use in automatic conversion and error checking during battles.
Repeat this for both the attack stack and defense stack.
8 More units...
Since most battles will be between stacks of 8 units or less,
there is no need to display all 32 possible defending units.
If you have a battle with over 8 defenders in a city, the remainder
of the units may be accessed through this function. When you click
on this button, the following screen will appear:
You can enter the additional defensive units in a city by using
the method described in Step 5, UNITS. The QUICK ENTRY function
is also available in this screen.
9 Battle/Reset
The Reset button will reset all of the entries except for
the Version, the Army Set, and the Intense Combat selections.
The Battle button will initiate the battle and bring up the following
results screen:
You can copy the results with the copy command in the edit menu
and paste it directly into your Turn Report. If you click on the
body of the results and de-select the text, you can still use the "select
all" command in the edit menu to re-select the text. You can also
click on the Text File button to bring up a dialog box allowing
you to save the results to a text file.
In addition, these are the other buttons in the main screen:
a Show/Print (Army Set)
The Show button will bring up the following screen containing
the information for the currently selected army set. The Print button
will send the information to a printer.
b Save preference
This button will save the current settings for Version, Army
Set, and Intense Combat to a preference file. When you start up
WarBOT the next time, these settings will be automatically loaded.
