Tournament News #1:  Last Day of Registration

Mighty Warlord,

You sit in the great dining hall of your castle, feasting with
the lords and ladies of your lands.  The conversation, of course,
centers around the upcoming Tournament in which you have recently
Registered!  Anticipation hangs in the air, a glorious cloud
thicker than the smoke from the pipes of the lords, more appetizing
than the smell of the excellent food, as alluring as the finest
of the ladies perfumes, and sweeter than any incense of the East.

You find it difficult to take a sip from your golden goblet -
it is so hard to get your face to stop smiling long enough to drink!

One of your pages steps into the hall and places a small scroll
in your hands, whispering "An urgent message from Tournament
Headquarters, sire - it just arrived."  You scan the announcement,
nod, and decide to make a proclamation.

The cloud of anticipation crystallizes around you -  a hundred
faces turn your way as you arise to speak.

"Lords and Ladies, squires and servants," you begin with a grin,
"a message has just arrived from the Tournament!"

Many knowing glances are exchanged around the room, and the magical
light from your special chandeliers sparkles from dozens of smiles.

"Today is the final day of Registration.  Soon, the Tournament will
begin!"

A great cheer goes up amidst a great clinking of wine glasses!

"At the moment, 188 Warlords from 25 countries have entered the
Tournament.  Over 100 have been officially activated, with the
remainder waiting patiently for play-by-email certification."

(You skip ove the section that reminds you to respond to your
Email Buddy immediately if you have not already done so.  :)  )

You read from the announcement:  "The tournament organizers
have one final request.  They say, 'On this, the final day of
Registration, we ask you to contact all the Warlords you know, and
remind them to Register before it's too late to join!  We don't
want to make Friday the 13th of June an unlucky day for someone
by leaving them behind!'"

"We shall hear from the Tournament again soon, after Registration
is completed," you shout over the growing clamor.  "Please
excuse me for a moment - I need to contact a few of my friends.
It would be a pity not to have the chance to play against them
in the Tournament!"

You summon your pages and leave the swelling uproar of
excited conversation behind, making haste to make sure none of
your friends miss out on the Tournament!
