Warlord,

A strange thing happened one day on the battlefield.
Summer it was, yet when the dark clouds of a thunderstorm gathered
overhead, the air became frigidly cold.  Suddenly, it was snowing.
But when the snow reached the ground, it refused to melt!
Indeed, your curious sages noticed a strange thing - all the 
snowflakes seemed to be identical...  How could this be?  

And so it was that they brought out their magnifying lenses
and discovered a most curious thing - each snowflake was a message!

And so they read to you what they saw:

Warlords of the World, Unite!

After nearly a year of Tournament play, it is time to start Round C!
Wherever you are, and whatever the state of your forces, we tell you truly:
if you are still around to read this, then truly you have fought 
hard and well in both Round A and Round B, and we congratulate you! :)  
Indeed, regardless of whether your efforts shall receive a prize,
you have shown true mettle as a valiant and honorable warrior.

And now, the end of the Round B draws near, and Round C awaits!
    
New swords are being sharpened, new bows strung, and new armor forged.
The sound of marching armies thunders across another new land.  
All that is needed are the leaders who will carry these forces into 
battle - and perhaps to victory!

Will you be among them once more?  

Beware - only the strongest shall survive this round, so do not sing up
unless your spirit is ever steadfast in the pursuit of glory, 
even in the face of dire adversity, death, and defeat!

If you are not afraid to go to war once more, then waste no time:
send a messenger to Headquarters (rfheeter@pixgen.com) immediately 
(or at least before 5 pm GMT on Monday, July 20) and your wishes 
shall be fulfilled!  If you know of other Warlords who are on vacation,
please let us know, so we do not leave them behind!

The most challenging battles so far shall begin on 
August 1 - and may The Greatest Warlords win!

**************  Round C Player Signup Survey  *****************

(1) Will you play in Round C?  (*ALL* of Round C?)

    Round C is expect to last through January 1999.
    You must reply with a "Yes" answer by Monday, July 20,
      to be included in the Round.

(2) Are you willing to play an extra Round C game as a substitute?

    This will require you to divide your Tournament time between two games,
    but you will get more practice, and even better, you can keep your
    best ranking at the end of the round as your "official" result.

(3) Would you like to change your Alias for Round C?

    This may help you remain relatively anonymous in the standings.
    It may also be help you do a great role-play and win
    one of the five prizes to be awarded at the end of the Round!
    (You may change your alias at any time by notifying Headquarters
    and your Moderator.)

(4) Have you enjoyed Round A and Round B?  Is there anything we 
    can do to make the tournament even more fun?

In short:  Are you ready for the next challenge?!  :)

...which is a fortunate thing, because the strange snow showed 
no signs of melting until your messenger disappeared, and the crops 
were all in danger of dying due to the surprise frost!
